01 — About

About This Guide

Who this is for and how it stays true.

This guide is the single source of truth for how CRP looks, sounds, and gets built. If a page, mockup, or prompt disagrees with the guide, the guide wins, and if the guide is wrong, fix the guide first.

Who This Is For
For Designers

Start with Brand Identity for voice and values, then the pattern library for every approved block. Reuse an approved pattern before inventing a new one. Every hero gets an image, headings follow the one standardized type scale, icons come from the CRP leaf set, not generic packs. Check your work against the rendered pixels, not the markup, before you show it to anyone.

For Developers

Patterns in this guide map one-to-one to the WordPress build. Copy an approved pattern’s markup exactly, including heading structure, do not restyle headings in block CSS. Interactive blocks are no-JS by design (radios, :target), keep them portable. The locked pages stay locked: verify locks after every build and before every publish. Touch only the element you were asked to touch, and prove nothing else changed.

For AI

Use the copy-paste prompts in the AI Prompts section as your system context before generating any CRP copy or imagery. The five values, the stats, and the CTA map are closed lists, never invent a value, a number, or a button label. When your output drifts from an approved phrase, the Corrections table in Brand Identity is the fix list. If a fact is not in this guide or on the live site, do not state it.

Keeping It Updated

This guide only earns trust if it matches production. The contract:

  • New patterns enter through the scan. A block does not exist in the guide until the site scan has picked it up and its entry is generated. No hand-added pattern entries.
  • New icons and images get recorded. Every added asset gets a line: name, file, and role (where it is used and why). An asset with no entry is an asset waiting to be lost.
  • Every scan bumps the version. Re-scan, bump the version number, note the date. A guide with a stale version stamp is assumed stale everywhere.
  • Corrections accumulate. When a drifted phrase is caught and fixed, add the ✗/✓ pair to the Corrections table so it is caught faster next time.

Mission

Live site (authoritative for public copy):

> A 501(c)(3) nonprofit placing licensed clinicians and funded programs inside NYC schools since 2014, so all children can thrive in safe, inspiring, supportive environments.

Founding document (2017 Mission and Vision, internal source):

> The mission of Community Revitalization Partnership (CRP) is to create safe spaces for youth and their families to live, work and play.

Founding vision, quoted in the same document: “all children are loved, listened to and protected. All children are thriving in environments that inspire them. All their needs are met.”

The Five Values

These five, exactly these, never invent others. Blurbs below are the live reveal copy from the homepage Our Values block.

Love
Every child, family, and employee is perfect, whole, and complete. We work without judgment.
Trust
We keep our word to the families, schools, and partners who count on us, and we ground every practice in the best clinical and business knowledge.
Self-Reliance
Alongside gifts and donations, we build our own funding streams, so nothing stops us from doing what makes a real difference.
Asset-Based
We start from strengths. The skills people already carry and the assets already in a neighborhood are the engine for social and economic growth.
Skill-Based
Every clinical interaction names, teaches, and rehearses coping, social, and emotional skills.
Proof Points

11 years serving NYC · 20+ schools & sites · 15+ licensed clinicians · 10k+ students served. Use these four numbers as published; do not extrapolate new statistics.

Voice Principles

Derived from the live site’s copy (“Licensed care & real support in school and beyond”, “right inside the school day”, “no waitlists, no travel”, “Wherever you’re starting from, there’s a place to grow”).

1. Plain-spoken and direct. No jargon, no runaround. If a school counselor would not say it in a hallway conversation with a parent, rewrite it.

2. Second person. Talk to the reader (“your school”, “your family”, “you can grow here”), not about “clients” or “populations served”.

3. Concrete school-day imagery. Anchor claims in the building and the bell schedule: “right inside the school day”, “without leaving the building”, “no waitlists, no travel”. Prefer a picture over an abstraction.

4. Strengths first, always. Asset-Based is a value, so the copy starts from what people already carry, never from deficit labels or crisis framing.

5. Licensed and specific. Say “New York State-licensed clinicians”, not vague “professionals” or “providers”. Credentials are part of the trust promise.

6. Warm, not soft. Every claim stays checkable (11 years, 20+ sites, licensed staff); warmth comes from concreteness, not superlatives.

05 — Spacing & Layout

Spacing & Layout

--crp-sh0 26px 64px -36px rgba(27,15,66,.44)Lifted shadow (hover)
Rules: band padding is symmetric, 54px top and bottom, never asymmetric. Gaps between adjacent bands are zero, always eliminated, never reduced. Floating cards rest on the small shadow and lift to the large one on hover. Bands use overflow:clip, never overflow:hidden (hidden bands scroll on :target jumps and clip their own headings).

Watermarks: botanical leaf and tree marks sit behind band corners, green marks at 13% opacity on light bands, white marks at 7% on dark bands. One watermark per band at most.

07 — Heroes

Heroes

Two hero structures, one scrim discipline.

Video hero (homepage)

Navy-ink ground, looping muted video, vignette scrim that fades toward the right so the left-set text always sits on dark. Eyebrow, hero headline with one green-light accent word, lead, primary + ghost buttons, stat strip below.

Interior hero (shero)

Photo ground with the same scrim recipe at interior-hero size, one eyebrow per page naming the audience, headline, lead, CTA per the audience map. The credibility bar (navy, four proof chips) sits directly below every interior hero.

Rules

Heroes always carry an image or video, never a flat color. Scrims deepen before text ever crosses a bright area of the photo. Stat figures render green-light, labels white.

09 — Components

Interactive Components

Every interactive block is no-JS by principle, built on :target, :has, details, or radios.

Contact picker (Intent Router)

contact

Seven fixed 0×0 anchor spans drive six path cards and one sent-state panel via :has(:target). Clicking a card swaps the panel with zero page scroll.

Heads-up: Targets are position:fixed spans, not the panels, so the browser never scrolls or clips the heading. The 7th target #crp-ct-sent is the form confirmation.

Wired forms

contact, schools

Plain HTML forms POST to the theme handler crp_contact, which whitelists fields per path, honeypot-checks, mails operations@crpartnership.org with Reply-To, and redirects to the confirmation anchor.

Heads-up: KSES strips input elements when a non-administrator saves the block. Keep the honeypot field .crp-hp.

Workshops dropdown

schools, families, youth

No-JS details/summary. List capped at min(52vh, 392px) with internal scroll and sticky group headers, so the block never grows as workshops are added.

Heads-up: Youth variant: rows are unlinked divs and the footer drops its CTA, per the youth rule. Rows elsewhere link to the contact picker panels.

Values reveal gallery

home, about

Five leaf tiles swap one full-width reveal panel below, pure :target, first value shown by default.

Heads-up: All five reveal accents are Green Deep by request. No wrapper card around the block.

What We Do accordion

home

Radio-input driven photo accordion, five panels.

Heads-up: WordPress strips radio inputs if a non-administrator saves this block. Edit as an admin only.

JD accordions

clinicians

details/summary job descriptions with the full LCSW and MSW text and right-aligned apply buttons.

Heads-up: The details name attribute is stripped by KSES, do not rely on exclusive-open.

14 — WordPress

WordPress Specs

How this install actually behaves.

Platform

  • GoDaddy cPanel Linux hosting, PHP 8.2
  • WordPress 7.0.4, crp 1.0 child theme of Twenty Twenty-Five
  • Jetpack active (Photon image CDN rewrites to i0.wp.com)

Deploy paths

  • Content: REST API with an application password (never a real login password)
  • CSS and theme files: rebuild the theme zip, upload via Appearance → Themes → Replace
  • Media over ~1MB: the WAF returns 413, upload via cPanel File Manager instead

KSES traps

  • input elements stripped on non-admin saves (radios, forms)
  • details name attribute stripped
  • style blocks stripped from content, all CSS lives in the theme

Never

  • Never activate CSS-injection plugins (two legacy ones caused the launch-day style regression)
  • Never draft or overwrite a page by slug without checking what owns the slug
  • Never use overflow:hidden on bands

AI Prompts

Copy-paste prompts so generated work lands in CRP’s voice and look.

Copy-paste these into any AI tool before asking it for CRP copy or imagery.

Voice Prompt

`

You are writing for Community Revitalization Partnership (CRP), a NYC 501(c)(3)

that has placed licensed clinicians and funded programs inside NYC schools

since 2014. Voice: warm, direct, plain-spoken, second person, no jargon, no

runaround. Anchor claims in concrete school-day imagery: “right inside the

school day”, “no waitlists, no travel”, “without leaving the building”.

ALWAYS:

  • write in second person, sentence-case body, Title Case titles, UPPERCASE eyebrows
  • use commas where you would reach for an em dash
  • say “licensed clinicians” or “New York State-licensed clinicians”
  • start from strengths (CRP is Asset-Based: skills people already carry)
  • use only these values: Love, Trust, Self-Reliance, Asset-Based, Skill-Based
  • use only these stats: 11 years serving NYC, 20+ schools & sites,

15+ licensed clinicians, 10k+ students served

  • capitalize “Summer” in prose
  • use the mapped CTA per audience: Schools & Teachers = “Partner With Us”,

Parents & Families = “Get in touch”, Counselors & Clinicians = “Join Our

Team”, Donors & Partners = “Back the Work”

NEVER:

  • em dashes, anywhere
  • CTA buttons aimed at students or youth
  • the phone number as a primary button (closing bands and footer only)
  • deficit labels (“at-risk youth”, “underserved populations”)
  • invented values, statistics, program names, or outcomes
  • nonprofit boilerplate (“empowering communities”, “making a difference”)

Few-shot corrections:

✗ “Join our Parent-First Parenting workshop”

✓ “Join our Person-First Parenting workshop”

✗ “Sign up for Summer Leadership Camp”

✓ “Sign up for Summer Leadership Programs”

✗ “We provide on-site mental health services to at-risk youth”

✓ “Your student can get help right inside the school day, no waitlists,

no travel”

✗ “CRP delivers funded enrichment — serving schools citywide”

✓ “CRP delivers funded programs, serving schools citywide”

Brand Visual Description

`

CRP’s visual world: a deep navy ground (#27165E) carrying two greens

(#4F9F43 and #2F7D3A), botanical leaf line-icons as the only icon

language, warm documentary photography of real school moments (hallways,

classrooms, small-group tables, never stock-posed), generous white space,

and pill-shaped buttons. The overall feel is calm, credible, and growing,

like a well-kept school garden, not a corporate brochure.

`

Illustration & Photography Art Direction

`

Photography: warm documentary style, real school moments caught mid-action,

a counselor and student talking at a hallway table, kids in a Summer

program, a clinician’s small-group circle. Natural light, honest color,

faces engaged, never posed stock imagery, never sad-child deficit framing.

CRP is Asset-Based, so every image shows capability and connection, not

crisis.

Illustration: botanical leaf line-icons in a single consistent stroke

weight, drawn from the CRP leaf set, in green #4F9F43 or #2F7D3A on white,

or reversed white on navy #27165E. No generic icon-pack symbols, no

gradients, no 3D. Keep compositions airy with generous white space; when

in doubt, remove an element.
